The Prime
Minister, Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the 14th edition of Aero India 2023
at Air Force Station, Yelahanka in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
- Theme: “The Runway to a Billion
Opportunities”
Key Points:
- The event
focus on displaying indigenous equipment/technologies and forging partnerships
with foreign companies. Which is vision of ‘Make in India, Make for the
World’. - To strengthen
Atmanirbhar Bharat keeps on growing with each passing day. - Participation: More than 80 countries along with
800 defence companies including around 100 foreign and 700 Indian companies. - India is largest
defence importer for decades and now started exporting defence equipment to
75 countries in the world. - India’s aim
is to take defence exports from 1.5 billion to 5 billion by 2024-25. - The Aero
India is the largest air show in the Asia. - Aero
India’s deafening roar echoes India’s message of Reform, Perform and Transform. - Ease of
Doing Business in India:
To create an environment that favours global investments as well as Indian
innovation. - The event promotes
the export of indigenous air platforms like Light Combat Aircraft
(LCA)-Tejas, HTT-40, Dornier Light Utility Helicopter (LUH), Light Combat
Helicopter (LCH) and Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH). - The event
will also help in integrating domestic MSMEs and start-ups in the
global supply chain and attract foreign investments including partnerships for
co-development and co-production.
Background:
- The first
edition of Aero India show was held in 1996. - The Aero
India event, the biggest air show in Asia, is put on by a collaboration between
the Indian Defense Ministry, Indian Air Force, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited
Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Department of Space,
Union Civil Aviation Ministry, and other organisations.
Aero India
is a wonderful platform to showcase the unlimited potential our country has in
defence and aerospace sectors.
