💠 Janjatiya Gaurav Divas:

President Droupadi Murmu will pay tributes to Bhagwan Birsa Munda at Ulihatu village in Khunti district of Jharkhand today on the occasion of Janjatiya Gaurav Divas.

  • The Government of India has declared 15th November as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas.
  • To commemorate the contributions of tribal communities in the nation's history and culture.


💠 Northeast India witnesses 80% decline in Insurgency:

  • The Northeast India region has witnessed an 80 percent decline in insurgency-related incidents since 2014.
  • According to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), around 6,000 insurgents from different groups have surrendered in these years.
  • In fact, the years 2019 and 2020 witnessed the lowest number of insurgency incidents and casualties of civilians and security forces during the last two decades.

 

💠 Decline Certain Mangrove Species in Indian Coasts:

Certain mangrove species in Chilika and Sundarbans along the east coast and Dwarka and Porbandar along the west coast of India is likely to reduce.

 It shifts landward by 2070 due to decline in suitable habitats in response to precipitation and sea level changes.

Why is declining Mangrove species?

Mangrove is one of the endangered ecosystems declining rapidly due to climate change, sea level fluctuations, and human activities.

How to conserve?

  • An urgent need to develop model-based studies to identify conservation target areas at Spatio-temporal scales, specifically in rich mangrove biodiversity regions along the Indian coastline.
  • The implementation of mitigation and adaptation strategies in the identified hotspots for conserving the coastal wetlands and reducing the impact of climate change on the coastal vegetation along the Indian coastline.

 

💠 SEA VIGIL-22:

  • The third edition of the ‘Pan-India’ Coastal Defence Exercise ‘Sea Vigil-22’ will be conducted on 15-16 Nov 22.
  • This started in 2018 to validate various measures that have been instituted towards enhancing maritime security since ‘26/11’.
  • The exercise will be undertaken along the entire 7516 km coastline and Exclusive Economic Zone of India.
  •  All the Coastal States and Union territories along with other maritime stakeholders, including the fishing and coastal communities involve in it.
  • The exercise is being conducted by the Indian Navy in coordination with the Coast Guard and other ministries entrusted with the task of maritime activities.
  • Exercise Sea Vigil-22 will provide realistic assessment of our strengths and weaknesses and thus will help in further strengthening Maritime and National Security.



💠 G20 Leaders’ Summit 2022:

G20 Summit 2022

G20 Leaders will deliberate extensively upon key issues of global concern. These include the state of the global economy, and issues relating to energy, environment, health, agriculture, and digital transformation.

Theme: "Recover Together, Recover Stronger”.

Three Agenda: Food and energy security, health, and digital transformation.

Held in Bali, Indonesia.

Current Challenges: Uneven post-pandemic economic recovery, debt vulnerability, an ongoing conflict in Europe, and its knock-on effects, such as food security challenges, energy crisis, and inflation.

At the closing session of the Summit, the Indonesian President will symbolically hand over the G20 Presidency to Prime Minister Modi. India will formally assume the G20 Presidency from 1st December this year.

India's G20 presidency hopes to provide new strength, direction and perspective to G20 discussions on diverse subjects which include green development, digital transformation, women-led development, and a greater voice to the Global South in issues of international economic cooperation.

About G20:

  • It plays a crucial role in shaping and strengthening the global architecture and governance on all major international economic and development issues.
  • G20 members represent around 85 percent of the global GDP, over 75 percent of the global trade, and
  • About two-thirds of the world's population.

 

💠 INDO-FRENCH AIR EXERCISE:

The seventh edition of the bilateral air exercise between the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the French Air and Space Force (FASF), 'Exercise Garuda-VII' at Air Force Station, Jodhpur.

  • The FASF participated in the exercise with Rafale fighter aircraft and A-330 Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft,
  • while the IAF contingent comprised Su-30 MKI, Rafale, LCA 'Tejas' and Jaguar fighter aircraft.

This fighter element was complemented by the IAF's Flight Refuelling Aircraft, AWACS and AEW&C, as well as Mi-17 helicopters and the newly inducted LCH 'Prachanda'.

It provides opportunity for professional interaction and sharing of operational knowledge and experience.

The exercise also provided a platform for cultural exchange between the Air Force personnel of both the countries.

 

💠 Children's Day celebration:

Children's Day celebration takes place across country on 14 November every year on the birth anniversary of the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

  • The day is celebrated across the country to increase awareness about the rights, care, and education of children.

 

💠 India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2022:

The 41st India International Trade Fair (IITF) will begin from November 14, at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.

The 14-day mega event assumes a special significance as it coincides with celebrations of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.

Theme: Vocal For Local, Local to Global.

  • Twenty-nine States and Union Territories are participating in the event.
  • Bihar, Jharkhand, and Maharashtra are Partner States while Uttar Pradesh and Kerala are participating as  Focus States in the fair.
  • 12 foreign countries including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Belarus, Iran, Nepal, Thailand, Turkey, UAE, and UK are participating in the fair. 

 

💠 Ayush for Global Health:

Ministry of Ayush’s pavilion at IITF (41st India International Trade Fair) 2022 will have various interactive activities to educate/propagate healthy Ayush lifestyle.

  • Ayush practitioners/Vaidya of Ayurveda, Unani, Homoeopathy, Siddha, Sowa Rigpa, Yoga & Naturopathy will give health advice.
  • “Daadi se Pucho” Activities: Briefed about know kitchen solutions can be used for some of your health problem.
  • Software based Prakriti & Mizaj Parikshan and Free OPD facilities of Ayush streams will be highlight of Ayush Pavillion.
  • Ministry of Ayush has been promoting entrepreneurship in Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy sector through India’s agile startup ecosystem.
  • More then 14  startups in different categories will showcase the growing strength of Ayush.

 

💠 England wins second T-20 World Cup 2022:

In cricket, England created history by winning their second T-20 world cup defeating Pakistan by five wickets at the Melbourne, Australia.

England won the toss and decided to bowl first. Pakistan made 137 in the stipulated 20 overs losing eight wickets.

Sam Curran was named Player of the Match as well as Player of the series.


💠 9th India-U.S. Economic and Financial Partnership:


US-India Economic & Financial Partnership

Union Minister of Finance & Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman and United States Treasury Secretary Dr. Janet L. Yellen give joint statements at the meeting of 9th India-US Economic Financial Partnership, in New Delhi.

  • Our Economic and Financial Partnership in 2010 as a framework to cement the economic bonds between our two nations and build a foundation for greater cooperation and economic growth.
  •  The U.S.-India economic relationship and to advancing global efforts to tackle pressing economic challenges.
  • The 9th India-US EFP meeting covered the discussion on various economic issues including-

global macroeconomic outlook,

climate finance,

supply chain resilience,

international taxation,

anti-money laundering,

combating terrorism financing,

India’s upcoming G20 presidency,

and MDB’s (multilateral development banks) reforms.

Both sides eagerly anticipate continued dialogue under the Economic and Financial Partnership and the further strengthening of our bilateral relationship.

 

💠 ESIC Online Maternity Benefit Claim Portal launched:

ESIC Online Maternity Benefit Claim Portal launched by Union Minister for Labour and Employment Shri Bhupender Yadav.

  • The portal will make the benefits easily accessible to the beneficiaries at their convenience.
  • Commemoration of 102nd Birth Anniversary of Sh. Dattopant Thengadi held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
  • The initiative of using technology for easing the lives of Insured Women.
  • It is a step forward to the aim of women empowerment more effectively.

Maternity Benefit is given to the insured women in the form of cash benefit in case of certain contingencies such as in the

advanced stage of pregnancy,

after delivery / in the unfortunate event of confinement or miscarriage and

who meet the eligibility conditions.

  • Payment at the rate of 100% of wages is paid for of 26 weeks as maternity benefit to the insured woman by ESIC to compensate for the loss of income during her childbirth.
  • A total of 18.69 lakh women beneficiaries have been provided maternity benefit of Rs 37.37 crore during the year 2021-22.

 

💠 ‘Eat Right Station’ certification by FSSAI:

Indian Railways’ Bhopal Railway Station has been awarded a 4- star 'Eat Right Station' certification for providing high-quality, nutritious food to passengers.

  • The ‘Eat Right Station’ certification is awarded by FSSAI to railway stations that set benchmarks in providing safe and wholesome food to passengers.
  • The 4-star rating indicates full compliance by the station to ensure safe and hygienic food is available to passengers.
  • The certification is part of the 'Eat Right India' movement- a large-scale effort by FSSAI.

Eat Right India adopts a judicious mix of regulatory, capacity building, collaborative, and empowerment approaches to ensure that our food is suitable both for the people and the planet.

The other railway stations certified before –

 Anand Vihar Terminal Railway Station; (Delhi), Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus; (Mumbai), Mumbai Central Railway Station; (Mumbai), Vadodara Railway Station, Chandigarh Railway Station.

 

💠 Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) participates in COP 27:

  💠 ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit, 17th East Asia Summit:


Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar attend the ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit and the 17th East Asia Summit. The Vice President accompanied by External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar.

  •       Cambodia is hosting these Summits as the current Chair of ASEAN.
  •       This year marks the 30th anniversary of ASEAN-India relations.
  •          It is being celebrated as the ASEAN-India Friendship Year.

             Significance:

  •       ASEAN India strategic partnership stands on a strong foundation of shared geographical, historical, and cultural ties.
  •      ASEAN is central to India's Act East policy and the wider vision of Indo-Pacific. India and ASEAN have nearly 30 dialogue mechanisms that meet regularly.

       💠 Electoral Bond Scheme (EBS):

  •            Electoral Bond Scheme amended to allow sale for additional 15 days in year of general elections to assembly of States and UTs with Legislature.
  •       Period of availability of Bond: Ten days each in the months of January, April, July and October.
  •       EBS, introduced in ­‑2018, are interest-free bearer instruments used to donate money anonymously to political parties.     
  •           It can be purchased by a citizen of India or corporation incorporated in India under the scheme.
  •       Only State Bank of India (SBI) is authorised to sell them.
 

       💠 2nd Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Agriculture Ministers Meeting:

Indian Agriculture Minister appeals to participate in India's initiative to promote Millet for a friendly agricultural food system and nutrition.
  •       To promote millet and its products during the International Year of Millets – 2023.
  •       The member countries to adopt a conducive agricultural food system and a healthy diet for all.

Chairmanship: Narendra Singh Tomar (Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare)

     💠 India’s Mission 100% Railways Electrification:

  •       Indian Railways accomplishes electrification of 82% of the total Broad Gauge (BG) network.
  •       1223 Route Kilometers (RKMs) electrified during April- October 2022
  •        Electrification to result in better fuel energy usage.   
  •       As on October 2022, out of 65,141 RKM of BG network of IR (including KRCL), 53,470 BG RKM have been electrified, which is 82.08% of the total BG network.
 

  💠 India’s first national repository for life science data-‘Indian Biological Data Center’ (IBDC):

v            India’s first national repository for life science data-‘Indian Biological Data Center’ (IBDC) at Faridabad, Haryana.
  •          It has a data storage capacity of about 4 petabytes and houses the ‘Brahm’ High Performance Computing (HPC) facility.
  •          The computational infrastructure at IBDC is also made available for researchers interested in performing computational-intensive analysis.



First Green Bond

💠 India’s First Sovereign Green Bonds:

Recently, Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman approves the final Sovereign Green Bonds framework of India.

It will further strengthen India’s commitment towards its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDCs) targets, adopted under the Paris Agreement.

The framework comes close on the footsteps of India’s commitments under Panchamrit as elucidated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at COP26 at Glasgow in November last year.

 It helps in attracting global and domestic investments in eligible green projects.

The proceeds generated from issuance of such bonds will be deployed in Public Sector projects which help in reducing carbon intensity of the economy.

The Ministry of Finance has constituted a Green Finance Working Committee (GFWC).

What is green Bond?

Green bonds are financial instruments that generate proceeds for investment in environmentally sustainable and climate-suitable projects.

Green bonds command a relatively lower cost of capital vis-à-vis regular bonds and necessitates credibility and commitments associated with the process of raising bonds.

 

AIM on Women Centric Challenges

💠 Atal Innovation Mission launches women centric challenges:

Atal Innovation Mission of NITI Aayog launched the Women centric challenges under the 2nd edition of Atal New India Challenge (ANIC) program.

The Woman centric major challenges are

  • Women hygiene,
  • Women’s safety,
  • Lack of professional networking opportunities for women,
  • Working mothers’ life, and
  • The life of Rural Women.

These can be overcome through the innovations and solutions of the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM).

NITI Aayog and AIM focus on women empowerment.

The Aayog highlighted that ANIC aims to seek, select, support and nurture technology-based innovations that solve sectoral challenges of national importance and societal relevance through a grant-based mechanism of up to one crore rupees.

 

FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022

💠 FIFA World Cup 2022:

FIFA World Cup 2022 will be played from 20th November to 18th December this year across five cities in Qatar.

It is the first football World Cup to be held in winter, as well as the first to be hosted by an Arab country.

France is the defending champions.  

The tournament will be played across eight venues. 28 teams have been placed in eight groups.

Brazil will open their World Cup campaign against Serbia on the 24th of November.

 

💠 Supreme Court, in a majority verdict, upholds constitutional validity of 10% EWS Reservation:

Supreme Court held that the EWS quota to “poorest of poor” among forward castes did not pose any danger to the Basic Structure of the Constitution.

In a 3:2 majority decision, upheld the validity of the 103rd Constitutional Amendment which provides 10% reservation in government jobs and educational institutions to the ‘economically weaker sections of the society but excludes the ‘poorest of poor’ among Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) from its scope.

💠 Report on SVAMITVA Scheme:

The Report of Expert Committee on SVAMITVA Scheme was released during the National Conference on SVAMITVA Scheme and Rural Planning held at Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

It consisted of domain experts from Land Governance, Banking, Survey of India, NIC-GIS, State Revenue and Panchayati Raj Departments, Industry and premier Planning and Architecture Institutes. 

What is SVAMITVA Scheme?

It is for accurate village level-planning, and increasing capacity at State, District and Block level for GIS skillsets, among others.

To create systems that promote transparency in the implementation of the scheme, promote the adoption of record of rights for availing bank loan, develop linkages between different departments for informed decision-making related to property tax assessment and collection, wider adoption of SVAMITVA data-sets by government and private agencies as per new geospatial guidelines, adoption of RADPFI (Rural Area Development Plan Formulation and Implementation) Guidelines.

Prime Minister of India unveiled the logo, theme, and website of India’s G-20 Presidency through video conferencing.

India assumes G20 Presidency: 1st of December 2022.

The G-20 logo is a representation of hope for a world emerging from the pandemic, conflict, and economic uncertainty.

The mantra of One Earth, One Family, One Future in G20 will pave a path for global welfare.

💠 New Chief Justice of India/50th Chief Justice of India:

President Droupadi Murmu will administer the oath of office to the new Chief Justice of India, Justice DY Chandrachud at Rashtrapati Bhawan.

  • He will succeed Justice UU Lalit(49th CJI).
  • Justice Chandrachud will be the 50th Chief Justice of India.
  • He Born in 1959, Mumbai (Maharashtra).
  • Justice Chandrachud was appointed Judge of the Supreme Court of India on the 13th of May 2016.
  • Earlier, he served as Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court.
  • Education Qualification:

  1.  LLB from Campus Law Centre from Delhi University and
  2. LLM degree and a Doctorate in Juridical Sciences from Harvard Law School in the USA.

According to World Health Organization (WHO)  recent published report highlighted 19 fungi that represent the greatest threat to humans health.

The list known as Fungal priority pathogens list (FPPL) is the first global effort to systematically prioritize fungal pathogens, considering the unmet research and development (R&D) needs and the perceived public health importance.

 

💠 New Species of Estuarine Crab:

It is discovered in estuary of Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu.

The species has been named ‘Pseudohelice annamalai’ in recognition of Annamalai University.
