In an official statement of the Ministry of Information Technology (MeitY) - "upon receiving of recent credible inputs that such Apps pose threat to sovereignty and integrity of India, the Government of India has decided to disallow the usage of certain Apps, used in both mobile and non-mobile Internet enabled devices. This move will safeguard the interests of crores of Indian mobile and internet users. This decision is a targeted move to ensure safety and sovereignty of Indian cyberspace."
India's Legal Action :
• These apps banned under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
• The legal actions against it because of -
+ Sovereignty and integrity of India
+ Security and safeguarding the privacy of more than 130 crore Indians.
+ Friendly relations with foreign States
+ National security and defence of India
• The MeitY has received many complaints from in cyberspace.
• There is misuse of some mobile apps available on Android and iOS platform.
• Users' Data stealing and secretly transmitting in an unauthorized manner to serves that have locations outside of India.
• The Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre, Ministry of Home Affairs has recommended to blocking these malicious apps.
• Voice against these apps by various Public representative, outside and inside the Parliament of India.

How does it impact China ?
* This step is a warning against Chinese incursion in Ladakh.
* It will harm Chinese wallet (economy).
* Indian apps may become more compitable than Chinese apps in the market.
* It may hurt Chinese Companies in India.
* It may reduce credibility of Chinese apps.
Associated Challenges :
* User's Data privacy and data security issues are not limited only to Chinese apps.
* Some widely popular banned apps among Indian users were only source of income.
* India's dependencies on some Chinese products in strategically sensitive sectors e.g. 5G trails, Paytm, Zomato, Byju's are having Chinese shareholders.
Way Forward :
* There is need new legislations for digital applications.
* Establishing a regulatory bodies for social media.
* Development of digital infrastructure.
* Coordination between international organizations.
* Need for a data protection rules and regulations.
* Developing best alternative apps.
* Preventing misuse of personal data.
* Punishment & Penalties for data breach.
This initiative will protect the interests of crores of Indian mobile and internet users. This decision is a targeted move to ensure safety and sovereignty of Indian cyberspace.
