UPPSC Provincial Civil Service Exam (PCS)

Every year millions of Civil Service Aspirants dream to become an A-class Officer e.g. SDM (Sub-Divisional Magistrate). The Examination pattern very much similar to UPSC Civil Service Exam (IAS exam).


Examination Conducted by :

The Provincial Civil Service Exam conducted by a Constitutional body - Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) (Article : 315-323). All the criteria for Provincial Civil Service Exam decided by UPPSC.

Provincial Civil Service Examination Process :

There are three phases of PCS Exam. These are -

1. PCS Preliminary Exam (Prelims) :

• Type of Question Asked - Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
• Negative Marking - One-third Penalty.
• Medium of Papers - Bilingual (Hindi and English)

• There are two papers -

Paper - I : General Studies - I
Number of Questions : 100
Duration : Two Hours
Marks : 200

Paper - II : General Studies - II  (CSAT)
Number of Questions : 100
Duration : Two Hours
Marks : 200

Note : Paper - II or CSAT (Civil Service Aptitude Test) is qualifying nature (Minimum marks required 33%).


2. Provincial Civil Service (Main) Examination (Mains) :

• Type of Exam : written/descriptive in nature.
• A Candidate may answer question papers in English Roman Script or Hindi Devnagri Script or in Urdu in Persian Script.
• There are total 8 Merit based papers. These are -

3. Civil Service Personality Test (Interview) :

An UPPSC Board members for assessing the Candidate personality.
• Marks : 100
Total Marks (Mains + Interview) : 1600


Provincial Civil Service Exam Eligibility :

1. Age 
Minimum Age : 21 Years
• Maximum Age : 40 years 
+ Age Relaxation to OBC, SC/ST and PH candidates.

2. Minimum Education Qualifications :
The candidate must hold a degree of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University Under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification.

Note : Graduation Final Year Students can also apply.
